Fannie Mae Halfhill was born May 2, 1876 near Wood, Iowa and passed away at midnight Saturday, Mar 30 at the age of 63 years 10 months and 28 days. Her parents were Josiah and Sarah Halfhill. In 1900 she was united in marriage to George Bruce of County Corners, Iowa, and to them was born one son Clifford. Mr. Bruce died in 1912 and for two years she lived at Strawberry Point.
In 1914 she was married to Frank Roberts of Rockford, Ill., and to them one son Harold was born. She made her home in Rockford with the family until 1924 when they moved to her farm near County Corners. Mr. Roberts passed away during the fall of 1939 and she being of frail health, survived him by 5 months.
She leaves two sons, Clifford Bruce of Detroit, Mich. and Harold Roberts of Ames; 3 stepchildren, Viola Johnson and Leander Roberts of Sycamore, Ill., and Gerold Roberts of Oelwein; also 3 brothers and one sister. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Kruessels Funeral Home Lamont, conducted by Rev. W.L. Feller, pastor of the M.E. church at Edgewood. Casket bearers were six nephews: V.C. Halfhill, Lloyd, Lynn, Fay and Elmer Ashline and Clyde Renfrow. Burial was made in the County Corners cemetery.
