John C. Keinroth, 64, of Independence, Iowa died Thursday, October 6, 2011, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa

John was born on October 28, 1946 in Chicago, IL., the son of Frank and Clarice (O’Neill) Keinroth. At the age of five John moved with his family to Oelwein, Iowa where he graduated from high school. He attended the North Iowa Community College, Mason City for several years. He served with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War from July 10, 1969 thru July 9, 1971. Following his discharge John became employed with the Fareway Stores working in Ottumwa, Iowa prior to becoming the store manager in Independence, Iowa in 1991. He was married to Renee M. Kanne on March 20, 1987 in Las Vegas, NV.

He was a member of the Independence Rotary Club, the Independence Ambassadors, the American Legion, and the V.W.F.

He is survived by his wife; Renee, three sons; David (Piper) Keinroth, Sioux Falls, SD., Jeff (Lisa) Keinroth, Waukee, IA., and Andrew Keinroth, Independence, IA., two grandchildren; Mason and Hutton Keinroth, a sister; Barb (Bernard) Shannon, Oelwein, IA., and a brother; Frank Keinroth, Enid, OK.

John was preceded in death by his parents and a sister; Gail Keinroth in infancy.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 A.M. Tuesday, October 11th, at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory Independence with inurnment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein, IA. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Monday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence where a military memorial service will be held at 7 P.M. Monday.
