Elizabeth Jane “Betty” Broell, 80 years old, of Cedar Falls, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Monday, December 27, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA, from complications of heart surgery.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, December 31, 2010, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher as celebrant. Music will be by Monica Bengston, organist and the St. Athanasius Choir. Honorary Casket Bearers will be Nathan Myers and Becky Mannina. Casket Bearers will be Bill Shelton, Mick Shelton, Travis Broell, Brian Chase, Frank Mannina and Lynn Kobliska.

Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA.

Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. – 7 p.m. Thursday, December 30th at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Mrs. Broell was born August 15, 1930, at Dyersville, IA, the daughter of Albert Digmann and Marie (Luken) Digmann.

On July 17, 1952, she was united in marriage to Roland Dean “Rollie” Broell at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA. Betty worked at Chamberlain Manufacturing, Waterloo, IA, as an inspector until her retirement in 1986. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA, and a former member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, and also a member of Am Vets Post 19 Auxiliary in Waterloo, IA.

Mrs. Broell is survived by her husband, Roland “Rollie” Broell, of Cedar Falls, IA, three daughters, Angela Broell of Waterloo, IA, Nancy Myers of Cedar Falls, IA and Lisa Myers of Winthrop, IA; two sons, Thomas (Joyce) Broell, of Cedar Falls, IA, Nathan Myers of Anamosa, IA; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four brothers, Albert (Karen) Digmann of Branson, MO, Don (Helen) Digmann of Waterloo, IA, Roger (Nancy) Digmann of Monticello, IA, Ron (Joyce) Digmann of Dyersville, IA; five sisters, Shirley Weber of Delhi, IA, Mary Lou Wink of Kahoka, MO , Bonnie (Jerry) Pearson of Martelle, IA, Linda Mason of St. Petersburg, FL, and Carolyn “Cookie” (Gib) Fangman of Earlville, IA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Lloyd, Alvin and Jerry Digmann and one sister, Donna Pottebaum.
