Mrs. Lydia Elsie Emry, 81, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon,Feb. 2, while attending a meeting of the Chautauqua Literary society at the Louis Luckel farm home.

The daughter of Karl Joseph and Maria Neiss Langenbach, she was born Nov.3,1873 in Dorchester, Iowa. She was married George A. Emry on May 29, 1894. They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1944, Mr. Emry died later that year.

Mrs. Emry was an active club and church woman. She served a combined total of 66 years in elective offices in various organizations.She was a registered parlamentarian and wrote and revised various constitutions and by-laws for organizations. In 1952 and 1953 she compiled lessons for open classes in parliamentary procedure and taught four classes a month.

She was elected to the "Who's Who in Iowa" in 1940 and was a charter member of many groups.She was a member of the First Methodist church and kept a record of the church history.

She is survived by one son, Carl of Oklahoma City, Okla.; one daughter, Mrs. Beldon Lemons of Independence, with whom she had made her home; seven grandchildren;and two great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and a son, She was the last of her family.

Funeral services have been tentatively planned For Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5, at the Swanson
Funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood cemetery.
