Charleen M. Alsip, 80, of rural Hazleton, Iowa, died on Thursday morning, November 25, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa.
Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. on Monday, November 29, 2010 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, Iowa; Officiating: Rev. Darwin Moore.
Visitation: from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, Iowa and after 9:30 A.M. on Monday at the church.
Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery at rural Oelwein, Iowa
Charleen May Wareham was born on May 14, 1930 at Chicago, Illinois the daughter of Charles and Ida May (Schwestka) Wareham.
She graduated from Fayette High School at Fayette, Iowa in 1948 and received her B.A. in elementary education from Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa in 1962.
Charleen married William Harold Alsip on February 14, 1963 at Omaha, Nebraska. She was an elementary school teacher at Fayette, Iowa, Aurora, Iowa, Waterloo, Iowa and in the Oelwein Community Schools. Charleen was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Oelwein, the National Education Association, and the Iowa State Education Association.
Charleen is survived by: 4 Daughters—Dalyn (David) Corbin of Fayette, Iowa Charla Nefzger (Randy Conrad) of Hazleton, Iowa Trudy (Eric) Irwin of Dallas, Texas Robyn Alsip (fiancé-Julian Arce) of Dallas, Texas 4 Grandchildren—Dawn, Amy, Abigail, and Ethan 3 Great Grandchildren—Adrianne, Bailey, and Brenton.
She was preceded in death by her Parents—Step-Father (William Ponsar) and her Husband (William H. Alsip on September 19, 1975).
