Jesup – Ida Eva Becker, 96 years old of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, November 30, 2010, at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, IA following a short illness.

She was born September 2, 1914, in Black Hawk County, Iowa, near Raymond the daughter of Frank Frost and Catherine (Clarens) Frost.

On February 3, 1937, she married Christian Michael “Chris” Becker at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Raymond, IA. They farmed until 1983 when they moved to town. Chris preceded her in death on April 14, 1984. Ida was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court of St. Pius X #1714 of Jesup, IA.

Ida is survived by four sons, Richard F. (Patricia) Becker of Jesup, IA, Steven M. (Jane) Becker of Jesup, IA, Michael J. (Joli) Becker of Gilbertville, IA, Mark A. (Christy) Becker of Jesup, IA; five daughters, Marlene Mangrich of Jesup, IA, Carolyn (Kenneth) Schmit of Gilbertville, Jane (Cleo) Fischels of Jesup, IA, Jean Becker of Broken Arrow, OK, Patricia (Gerald) Weber of Waterloo, IA; 29 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, one infant son, Roger L. Becker; seven brothers, Alfred Frost, Joseph Frost, Ernest Frost, Leo Frost, Francis Frost, Vincent Frost, Raphael Frost; one sister Margaret Becker and one son-in-law, Gerald Mangrich.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, December 3, 2010, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher as Celebrant. Music will be by Brett Hershberger, organist; Todd Rohlfsen, soloist; and the St. Athanasius Choir.

Visitation will be 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA where there will be a Catholic Daughters Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Thursday.

Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery, Raymond, IA.

Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Church and School, Jesup, IA, The Bosco System, Gilbertville, IA and Camp Courageous, Monticello, IA.
