Lucille Esther Meister, 78 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 28, 2010, at East Towne Care Center in Independence following a short illness.

She was born on March 13, 1932, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Bert and Alta Neva (Beck) Zimpher, Sr.

She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1952. In 1953, she and Albert George Meister were married in Independence. They later divorced. Mrs. Meister was a nurse’s aide for 33 years at Peoples Memorial Hospital and Extended Care in Independence. She retired in 1994. Mrs. Meister enjoyed being out of doors. She grew all kinds of flowers in her gardens around her home.

Mrs. Meister is survived by 1 daughter, Debra (Larry) Hanna of Independence, Iowa, 2 sons, George (Connie) Meister and Bill (Tammy) Meister, both of Independence, 4 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Bert Zimpher of Waterloo, Iowa, and William Zimpher of Independence, and 1 sister, Neva (Wendall) Beene of Tampa, Florida.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Albert Meister, and 2 sisters, Pauline Zimpher and Maxine Zimpher.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, November 1, 2010, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with the Rev. Sue Ann Raymond officiating. Music will be provided by Mrs. Monte Cue, organist, and Mr. Monte Cue, vocal soloist. Casket Bearers will be Matt Hanna, Eric Dauth, Larry Hanna, and George Meister.

Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Sunday, October 31st, at the funeral home.
