Philip C. Schlesselman, 76, of Harpers Ferry, Iowa and formerly of Aurora, Iowa died on Friday afternoon, October 15, 2010 at the Prairie du Chien Memorial Hospital at Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin

Funeral Services: 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 at the Aurora United Methodist Church in Aurora, Iowa; Officiating: Rev. John Brockschink.

Visitation: from 3:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. on Monday at the Floral Hills Chapel in rural Oelwein and after 9:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the church; there will be a public Masonic Service at 7:00 P.M. by Solomon Masonic Lodge # 594 A.F. & A.M. of Lamont and a Military Memorial Service at 8:00 P.M. by Aurora American Legion Post # 435 on Monday at the Floral Hills Chapel.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in rural Oelwein, Iowa with graveside military rites by the Aurora American Legion Post # 435 of Aurora, Iowa

Memorials may be given in his name to the Harpers Ferry Rescue Squad of Harpers Ferry, Iowa

Philip is survived by: Son—Jerry Schlesselman of Harpers Ferry, Iowa Daughter—Dawn Schlesselman of Elkader, Iowa 5 Grandchildren—Jeffrey Schlesselman, Jerica Schlesselman, Jade Martin, Jenelle Martin and Genoa Martin 1 Great Grandson—Braydon 2 Sisters—Jane (Gene) Tonn of Plantation, Florida and Roma (Jim) Treat of Storm Lake, Iowa

He was preceded in death by his Parents—Wife (Phyllis M. Schlesselman on February 16, 1987)

Philip Carl Schlesselman was born on July 15, 1934 at Des Moines, Iowa the son of Ivan and Rose (Weissinger) Schlesselman.

He graduated from Oelwein High School at Oelwein, Iowa in 1952 and from Upper Iowa University at Fayette, Iowa in 1961. Philip was a veteran of the Navy. He married Phyllis Marlene Jenks on May 31, 1958 at the Aurora United Methodist Church at Aurora, Iowa.

Philip was a petroleum marketer and owned and operated the Aurora Oil Co. and the PX Quik Marts. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church, Aurora American Legion Post # 435, and the Solomon Masonic Lodge # 594 A.F. & A.M. of Lamont, Iowa. Philip loved his life on the Mississippi River for many years.
