Jesup – Gwendolyn A. Baldwin, 97 years old, of Friendship Village, Waterloo, IA and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA.

She was born January 19, 1913, near Jesup the daughter of Charles E. Leary and Beulah Mae (Trumbauer) Leary.

On April 23, 1930, she was united in marriage to Harry Nicholas Baldwin at Traer, IA. She farmed with her husband near Jesup until retirement in 1975 when they moved into town. Harry preceded her in death on July 7, 1981. Mrs. Baldwin was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a 75 year member of the Rural Women’s Study Club and a former member of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Baldwin is survived by one son and daughter in law, Douglas and Maureen Baldwin of Holmes Beach, FL, 5 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 7 great great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Harry.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Charles Edwin Baldwin; three brothers, Lloyd, Raymond and Robert Leary; and one sister, Ramona Forney.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. – Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Vicki Reece officiating.

Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA.

Visitation will be for an hour before services Saturday at the church. A memorial fund has been established.
