BRANDON: Evelyn Pearl Brockway, 94, died Monday, January 12, 2009 at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab following a brief illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, January 17, 2009 at the Brandon United Methodist Church in Brandon with Rev. Collette Gould officiating.

Interment will be held at the Brandon Cemetery.

Friends may call at the Phillips Family Center in Vinton from 4 to 7 PM on Friday. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Evelyn was born April 23, 1914 at Elberon to Walter and Ollie (Froning) DeVoe and graduated from the Elberon High School in 1932. She graduated from Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines in 1933.

On December 16, 1933 she married Kenneth Brockway at Elberon. In 1939 the couple moved to Brandon where they owned and operated Brockway Grain Elevator. Evelyn served as Secretary for the elevator until 1959. Kenneth preceded her in death on December 26, 1989.

She was a member of the Brandon United Methodist Church over 60 years and for many years she was a member of the O.E.S Chapter in Rowley and the ODO Club in Brandon.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter, Mary Lou (Bill) Harrison of rural Urbana; her grandchildren, Mike (Kamie) Harrison of Rochester Hills, MI, and Holly (Bryan) Hosford of Amana; her great grandchildren, Kelsey and Dalton Harrison, and Connor Hosford; her nephews, Scott, Terry and Wayne Mussman, and her niece, Angie Alexander.

In addition to her parents and husband, Kenneth, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ethel Mussman.
