Cynthia Sue Klever

Cynthia Sue Klever was born January 30, 1957, at Independence, Iowa, the youngest daughter of Robert and Charmion Frederick Schultz. She grew up in Quasqueton, Iowa, attended East Buchanan Schools, and graduated with the Class of 1975. She continued her education at Hawkeye Tech Community College in Waterloo, receiving her Commercial Art Associates Degree in 1977.

Cynthia was united in marriage to Alan Klever on July 2, 1977, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. To this union was born their daughter, Samantha Jo. Their thirty-one years of marriage was lived on their farm southwest of Winthrop. Previously, Cynthia had worked at the Winthrop News, Casey’s General Store, Midwest Wood Inc., and for the past 15 years, she was employed at Geater Manufacturing in Independence.

Her creative talents were apparent in the many quilting, sewing, cake decorating, and scrap booking projects that she designed. She enjoyed watching birds at the feeders on their patio, as well as the antics of the grand puppies, Bailey and Brody. Cynthia was a caring and loving wife, mother,daughter, and "girlfriend" who loved to shop and golf. The Klevers spent several wonderful days playing rounds of golf on the many area courses.

After fighting a courageous three year battle with cancer, Cynthia entered into her eternal rest on Tuesday, January 13, 2009, at their home, with her loving husband at her side. She was nearly 52 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her father, Robert.

Survivors include her husband, Alan of rural Independence; her daughter and son-in-law: Samantha Jo and Nathan Lease of Monroe, IA; her mother, Charmion Schultz of Quasqueton; her brother, Greg (Karen) Schultz of Robins, IA; her sister, Gloria (Steve) Johnson of Summerset, WI; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Saturday, January 17, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Music will be provided by Mary Schubich, organist and Russ Clark, bagpiper. Casketbearers will be: Chris Schultz, Bob Schultz, Mike Fangman, Tim Manatt, Dennis Finder, Gary Finder, and Hank Aube. Burial will north of Winthrop, at the Fremont Township Cemetery, across the road from the Buffalo Creek Golf Course.

Friends may call at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop, on Friday, January 16, 2009, from 3 PM to 7 PM, and at the church on Saturday, from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM.
