Raymond H. Reece, 87, of Center Point, Iowa, died Monday morning, January 12, 2009, at Mercy Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, following a long illness.

Raymond was born on October 13, 1921, near Troy Mills, Iowa the son of William M. and Hattie (Oldridge) Reece. He attended the country schools near Troy Mills, and he entered the U.S. Army on August 27, 1942 serving during World War Two until his discharge on November 26, 1945. He returned to the Troy Mills and Center Point areas, and became employed with Wilson (Farmstead) Foods in Cedar Rapids, IA until his retirement in 1981. He was united in marriage to Thelma L. Cunningham on December 25, 1950 in Winthrop, Iowa. The couple later divorced in 1974.

He is survived by a daughter; Connie (Samuel) Rees, Walker, Iowa, three sons; Richard (Betty) Reece, Urbana, IA., Terry (Nadine) Reece, Center Point, IA., Wesley (Merlyn) Reece, Cedar Rapids, IA., ten grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Kevin Reece, a sister; Laurah Metcalf and four brothers; Marion, Marvin, Edwin and Vernon Reece.

Graveside services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Saturday, January 17th, 2009 at Fairview Cemetery, Winthrop, Iowa with Rev. Mike Anderson officiating. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Friday at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Winthrop, IA.
