Independence - Beatrice Pauline Ball, 94 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Buchanan County Health Center LTC in Independence following a long illness.

She was born on February 17, 1914, in Greene, Iowa, the daughter of Ralph Lee and Nellie Maude (Melick) Kimball.

She graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids and then, attended Coe College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

On July 5, 1936, she and Donald Schowalter Roth were married in Quasqueton, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1973. On July 31, 1986, she and Donald Lee Ball were married in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death in 1995. Mrs. Ball was a charter member of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri, and the Central Christian Church in Waterloo, Iowa.

Mrs. Ball is survived by one daughter, Karen L. Roth of Temecula, California, and 3 grandchildren, Blake Julian, Brooke Julian, and Bailey Klemz.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Marian L. McNutt, and 1 brother, Dr. Richard L. Kimball.

Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, January 9, 2009, at the Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating. Friends may call for visitation after 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 9th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa.
