HAZLETON - Blake Matthew Steil, 14 months, died of respiratory failure Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008 at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 5, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, with burial in St. John’s Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein.

Blake was born Oct. 8, 2007 in Waterloo, the son of Curtis and Linda (Weber) Steil.

Survivors include his parents and a sister Zoe, all of Hazleton; grandparents Mike and Linda Steil of Fairbank, William “ Willy” and Barbara Weber of Hazleton and Joel and Molly Greenley of Independence; great-grandparents Don and Virginia Steil of Fairbank, Ramon and Patricia Rasmussen of Rowley, Janet Greenley of Independence and Louise McFarland of LaPorte City; and may aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by great-grandparents Doras and Lucille Latham and Herbert and Rose Weber.

A memorial fund has been established in his name.
