Gary Lee Myrton was born June 25, 1942, at Aurora, Iowa, the son of Ted John Edwin Myrton and Sophia Frank Myrton. He attended local schools and graduated from Aurora High School with the class of 1959. He served his country in Vietnam with the U.S. Army from 1964-1966.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Knutsen on June 19, 1965. To this union were born three children: Chad, Jade, and Amber. They moved to Aurora in 1981, where he worked as a grain truck driver for the Aurora Elevator. In his free time he enjoyed fishing and spending time with his granddaughter, Brezlyn.

Gary entered into his eternal rest on Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Mercy Hospital in Oelwein following a sudden illness. He was 66 years of age.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Pat of Aurora; his two sons: Chad of Aurora and Jade of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; his daughter, Amber (Jeff Van Ree) Grote of Brandon, Iowa; his granddaughter, Brezlyn Grote of Brandon; his sister, Marlene McLaughlin of Joice, Iowa; and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 18, 2008, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Friends may call prior to the service from 3:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Private inurnment will be held later.
