Edward V. “E.V.” Allen, 80, of Marion, Iowa and formerly of Quasqueton, Iowa died Saturday afternoon, November 8, 2008 at his home in Marion following a short illness.
E.V. was born on October 15, 1928 near Quasqueton, Iowa the son of Edward C. and Violet (Worstal) Allen. He graduated from the Quasqueton High School and served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his discharge he returned to the Quasqueton area where he was united in marriage to Araietta Mae Sauer on November 23, 1952. The couple farmed in the Quasqueton area prior to moving to Marion in 2004.
He was a member of the Union Church, the Cedar Rock American Legion Post, and was avid basketball fan.
E.V. is survived by two sons; Edward V. (Cheryl) Allen, Jr., Fairfax, Iowa, and Nick (Deb) Allen, Marion, Iowa, four grandchildren; Nathan Allen, Tiphanie McCue, Carie Allen, Edward S. Allen, and five great grandchildren; Ashley Allen, Jorja Allen, Nolan McCue, Jack McCue, and Edward.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Araietta in 2006, a son; Michael C. Allen, two brothers; George and Dale Buck, and a sister; Edna Trammel.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday, November 12, 2008 in the Union Church, Quasqueton, Iowa with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in the Quasqueton Cemetery with full military honors. Friends may call from 4 to 8 P.M. Tuesday at the Reiff Funeral Home in Quasqueton, IA.
