Jesup Roy D. Kennedy, Jr., 70 years old of Waterloo, IA, died Thursday, October 30, 2008, in Rochester, MN, while being treated for cancer.

He was born November 8, 1937, at Colfax, IA, the son of Roy Dale Kennedy, Sr. and Mary Eva (Hannah) Kennedy. He served in the US Navy and then on December 17, 1955, he was united in marriage to Ruth Delores Stoner in Johnston, IA. They later divorced.

He was owner/operator of A.B. Dick Products – Automated Business Systems in Waterloo, IA since 1972 and was an active supporter of UNI Athletics.

Mr. Kennedy is survived by 2 sons, Rick (Kim) Kennedy of Novinger, MO, Randall (Tina ) Kennedy of Waterloo, IA, 2 daughters, Rayann (Rock) Vogel of Jesup, IA, Rhonda Kayser of Rowley, IA, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren, his step-mother, Ada Mae Kennedy, 1 step-sister, Shirley Dean, and a special friend Michelle Lanigan of Waterloo, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, William, 1 sister, Caroline, 1 step-sister, Sharon Brandon, 1 step-brother, Richard Claussen, 1 grandson, Randy D. Kennedy, and 1 great grandson, Randy R. Kennedy.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 7, 2008, at Doyle’s Bar & Pub, 504 Sycamore Street, Waterloo, IA. Memorials will be directed to charity and may be mailed to the Roy D. Kennedy Memorial Fund c/o PO Box 124, Jesup, IA 50648.
