Rose Mary Horkheimer, 57, of Hazelton, Iowa passed away Friday, July 26, 2002, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa, of cancer.
She was born July 21, 1945 at Prairie du Chien, daughter of Lloyd Beesecker, Sr. and Gertrude (Martin) Beesecker. She attended Wauzeka Schools. Rose married Gerald Louis Horkheimer on May 24, 1966. She was the owner and operator of Comfort Zone Furniture in Hazelton.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Hazleton and had formerly been a volunteer with Volunteers for Youth and a Sacred Heart School volunteer. Rose was a devoted homemaker and mother who will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
Surviving are her husband, Gerald Horkheimer of Hazleton; two sons, Jeff Horkheimer of Prairie du Chien and Chip Horkheimer of Hazleton; three daughters, Laurie Ann Schult of Hazleton, Jennifer Arthaud of Hazleton and Lori Marshall of Congers, N. Y.; 13 grandchildren; her father, Lloyd Beesecker, Sr. of Lancaster; five brothers, Lloyd Beesecker Jr. of Beetown, John Beesecker of Paducah, Ky., Richard Beesecker of Hazleton, Edward Beesecker of Prairie du Chien, Michael Beesecker of Paducah, Ky., three sisters, Terry Parkins of Glen Haven, Lorie Jo Adrian of Calvert City, Ky. and Shawn Fure of Cassville.
She was preceded in death by her mother, brother, Robert, granddaughter, Jade Horkheimer and son-in-law, Dan Marshall. Services were Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Hazleton, Iowa, Rev. Jack Paisley officiating with burial in Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa.
Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Cancer Research.
The Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home of Oelwein, Iowa assisted the family.
