JESUP — Ronald Leo Gibbons, 65, of Jesup, died Friday, Oct. 24, at his home.

He was born Aug. 23, 1943, in Waterloo, son of Lawrence and Adeline Schares Gibbons. On May 5, 2006, he married Shirley Rasmusson.

He graduated from Waterloo Columbus High School in 1961 and then went into the Air Force, serving in Okinawa and Stateside. Mr. Gibbons worked at Deeres, retiring in 1995 after 30 years of service. He later worked as an independent truck driver and in security for the Target Distribution Center in Cedar Falls.

Survived by: his wife; two sons, Michael (Rene) of Elk Run Heights and James of Sumner; two daughters, Pam Gibbons of San Diego and Jessica (Tyler) Brownell of Evansdale; three brothers, Bill of Ozark, Mo., Tom of Elk Run Heights and David of Waterloo; a sister, Sue Ann Oldenburg of Plainfield; and three grandchildren.

Preceded in death by: his parents.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Parrott and Wood Chapel of Memories, with burial at a later date. Military rites will be conducted by Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Public visitation for an hour before services Monday at the funeral home.
