Marion - Robert H. Wright, 85 years old, of Marion, Iowa, died on Saturday, June 17, 2006, at the Abby Center for Community Care in Marion, Iowa, following a short illness. He was born on January 20, 1921, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the son of George Henry and Grace Maude (Gipe) Wright. He attended the Buchanan County country schools. He was united in marriage to the former Evelyn Loretta Smith. She preceded him in death in 1970. He was employed at Wilson Foods in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and several area construction firms.
Mr. Wright is survived by 1 son, Cecil (Chris) Wright of Quasqueton, Iowa, 2 daughters, Barbara Merritt and Betty Olson, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 9 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Orva Wright of Independence, Iowa.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Edward Wright and Everett Wright, 2 sisters, Edna Edgeton and Verna Workman, and 1 grandson in infancy.
Scripture Services were held at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Fr. Al Vorwald officiating. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery in rural Urbana, Iowa, at a later date.
