Independence - Anna M. Payne Wilkinson, 86 years old, of Warner Robins, Georgia, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, July 27, 2006, at Houston Medical Center in Warner Robins following a short illness. She was born on October 8, 1919, in Aurora, Iowa, the daughter of John George and Mary Teresa (Meyer) Werner. On February 14, 1940, she and Glen William Payne were married in Lamont, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1958. She married William “Mike” Wilkinson in Independence, Iowa, on January 16, 1971. He preceded her in death on January 17, 1999. Mrs. Wilkinson was a house mother for student nurses at the Mental Health Institute in Independence, Iowa. Before she retired she had moved to the marking department of the M.H.I. laundry. She was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence.
Mrs. Wilkinson is survived by 1 daughter, Carolyn (Charles) Frye of Warner Robins, Georgia, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, James Payne, 1 daughter and son-in-law, Kathy and Jim Johnson, 4 brothers, and 4 sisters.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 4, 2006, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa. Fr. Al Vorwald was the Celebrant. Music was provided by Mrs. Bonnie O’Brien and the St. John’s Choir. On Thursday, August 3rd, there was a Parish Rosary beginning at 3:00 p.m. at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
White Funeral Home of Independence was in charge of arrangements.
