Quasqueton - Dale M. Vaughn, 68 years old, of Quasqueton, Iowa, died on Friday, June 16, 2006, at his home following a sudden illness. He was born on May 3, 1938, in Burnside, Illinois, the son of Floyd and Kathryn (Mendenhall) Vaughn. He graduated from the Carthage, Illinois, high school with the Class of 1956. He also graduated from Kirkwood Community College and attended Coe College, both in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956 to 1960. On July 28, 1963, he and the former Sherry Davis were married in Carthage, Illinois. He was employed by Rockwell Collins in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for 37 years. He was a member of the Independence Masonic Lodge #87 A.F. & A.M. and the Buffalo Creek Golf Course in Winthrop, Iowa.
He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He was an avid golfer and never missed a grandchild’s event. He will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.
Mr. Vaughn is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sherry, 1 son, Jeff (Greta) Vaughn of Anamosa, Iowa, 1 daughter, Christina (Tony) Main of Quasqueton, Iowa, 2 grandchildren, Jacob Main and Haley Main, 1 sister, Lina Carlisle Kill of Carthage, Illinois, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, Dorothy Vaughn and Mildred Hodgin, and 1 brother, Marvin Vaughn.
Funeral Services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2006, at the Union Church in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Music was provided by Lori Knuth, organist. There was a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19th, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton. Casket Bearers were Franklin Heiserman, Hank Lammers, Harvey Chesmore, Chuck Kress, Dennis Crawford, and Dick Scott. Burial was in Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Military Rites provided by Cedar Rock American Legion Post #434.
