INDEPENDENCE — Audrey C. Fitzgerald, 19, of Independence, died Sunday, March 2, 2008, at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, (where she was a student) of meningitis.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 8, at the Independence High School. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, with an 8 p.m. rosary Thursday and 7 p.m. vigil service Friday.
A memorial fund has been established.
She was born March 31, 1988, in Independence, the daughter of Edward James and Pamela Jo (Conklin) Fitzgerald. She graduated from high school in Independence in 2006 where she excelled in sports, especially volleyball. She attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City, for one year and then transferred to Loras College in Dubuque where she was pursuing the course of study centered on sports therapy
Audrey is survived by her parents, Pam Fitzgerald of Independence, and Ed Fitzgerald of Rowley, and her maternal grandparents, Audrey and Charles Conklin of Independence, as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
