Jesup – Betty A. Hill Neely, 84 years old of Jesup, IA, died Thursday, October 12, 2006, at the Buchanan County Health Center – Long Term Care Unit, at Independence, IA, following a lengthy illness. She was born July 28, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Oran Henry Leavell and Blanche Elizabeth Lyons. She was united in marriage to Homer I. Hill in June 28, 1940 in Byron, Indiana. He preceded her in death on March 25, 1980. She then married Robert H. Neely, Sr. in September 8, 1985 in Harlan Indiana. He preceded her in death in 1992. She moved to Jesup, IA, in 1995 and has made her home near Littleton. Betty was a homemaker and before retirement she had worked in the Automobile industry as an electronics parts fabricator.
Mrs. Neely is survived by 3 sons, Homer “LeRoy” (Kathleen) Hill of Westin, OH, John S. (Joyce) Hill of Boone, IA, and Ralph E. “Gene” (Beverly) Hill of Jesup, IA. 23 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 3 brothers, John Leavell, Fort Wayne, IN, Fred (Betty) Leavell of Hicksville, OH, Carl (Betty) Leavell of Waterloo, IA, 3 sisters, Rose Batteberg of California, Elsie (Walter) Love of Harlan, IN, and Mary (Robert) Brown of Garrett, IN, also, 2 step sons, Robert (Marsha) Neely, Jr. of Ft. Wayne, IN, Larry (LaVone) Neely of Yoder, IN, 5 step grandchildren and 8 step-great grandchildren. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Ruth Ard, Hazel Thomas, Alberta Lindaberg, and Anna Mae Adams, 1 grandson, Danny Hill, 2 great grandsons, Jeremy Hill and Anthony Hill.
Funeral services were at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 16, 2006 at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with Rev. Vickie Reece officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers will be John Hill, Dave Hill, Kevin Hill, Brian Hill, Matt Hill and Chad Hill. Hockmeyer Funeral Home of Harlan, IN, will conduct graveside services and burial at 1:00 p.m. – Wednesday, October 18, 2006 at Scipio Cemetery, Harlan, IN, with Rev. Pat Fullbright officiating.
Memorials may be directed to the family. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA.
