Jesup – Robert Dean “Chic” McGlaughlin, 70, years old of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, February 28, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA following a sudden illness.

He was born January 1, 1937, at the family home in Jesup, the son of Arley J. McGlaughlin and Edna M. (Fiddler) McGlaughlin. He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1955. On December 28, 1957, he and the former Betty Jean Rohmer were married at the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup.

Robert worked 33 years for Deere and Company in Waterloo, IA, retiering in 1988. For 24 years he was a member of the dance band, “Chic and the Country Queens”. He also Owned and operated the Pink Palace Bait and Tackle Shop near the Littleton dam in Littleton. Robert was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Jesup.

Mr. McGlaughlin is survived by his wife, Betty of Jesup, 1 daughter, Cindy (Tim) Paulus of Grimes, IA, 1 son, David (Jeanna) McGlaughlin of North Liberty, IA, 5 grandchildren, 1 sister, Arlene (Leslie) Reinertson of Jesup, IA and 1 brother, Richard (Sherry) McGlaughlin of Independence, IA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a step-father, Ed Mixdorf.

Funeral services were at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 3, 2007, at the First Presbyterian Church, Jesup, IA with Rev. Kristy K. Parker officiating. Burial was in the Littleton Cemetery, Littleton, IA. Memorials may be directed to the family.
