Independence - Darleen Mae Jensen, 68 years old, of Independence, Iowa, passed away on Sunday, November 26, 2006, at her home following a sudden illness. She was born on May 25, 1938, at her parents’ home in Stanchfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Avert Albert and Grace Helen (Davis) Fredrickson. She attended school in Milaca, Minnesota. Darleen married Dale Douglas Jensen in 1954 at Oak Park, Minnesota. They were later divorced. Mrs. Jensen was a home maker and mother. She was an active faithful Witness of Jehovah until the time of her death.
Mrs. Jensen is survived by 3 daughters, Karen (Lonnie) Widger of Independence, Iowa, Terri (Bill) Gordish of Des Moines, Iowa, and Diane Jensen of Burnsville, Minnesota, 2 sons, Lee (Linda) Jensen of Quasqueton, Iowa, and Davin Jensen of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 8 grandchildren, Jenny Fischer, Kim (Brad) Kendall, Virgil Widger, Gina Martz, Kelli Gordish, Billi Gordish, Luke (Kristen) Jensen, and Louise Jensen, and 3 great grandchildren, Bailey Boesch, Jackie Rice, and Kennedy Rice. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Dale Fredrickson of Lindstrom, Minnesota, Dean Fredrickson of Foreston, Minnesota, and Dennis Fredrickson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, 1 sister, Delores Kothman of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and 1 half sister, Linette Ziegler of Foreston, Minnesota.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her infant brother, Donny.
Memorial Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2006, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses at 940 Rock Island Ave., Oelwein, Iowa. The family greeted friends and loved ones directly following at the Oelwein Community Senior Center, 25 West Charles in Oelwein, Iowa. There was no visitation. Her body was cremated.
