Independence – Lisa Kay Fowlkes, 47 years old of Cedar Rapids, IA, and formerly of Independence, IA, died Friday, July 20, 2007, at her Cedar Rapids home of natural causes. She was born June 7, 1960, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of James Oscar Fowlkes and Patricia Ann (Bisdorf) Fowlkes. She attended the Independence schools and following her education worked as a chef at area restaurants. Most recently she had worked in the telemarketing industry. She attended First Baptist Church in Independence.
Lisa is survived by 1 son, Jason McMurrin of Cedar Rapids, IA, her mother Patricia Fowlkes of rural Independence, IA, and 2 sisters, Tina (Cliff) Mohling of Independence, IA and Mary (Mike) Evans of Cedar Rapids, IA. She is preceded in death by her father and 1 brother, Scott Fowlkes.
Memorial servivces were held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2007, at the First Baptist Church in Independence, IA, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating. Music was by Anita Bowden, organist and vocalists, Lorene Zimmerly, Sharon Fairchild and Dr. David A. Larson. Burial will be at a later date.
