Independence - Rosemary Foland, 92 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, November 5, 2006, at Prairie Hills Assisted Living following a sudden illness. She was born on February 17, 1914, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Willis and May (Stevens) Porter. She graduated from the Independence High School. On April 3, 1935, she and Raymond Ellis Foland were married in West Union, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1968. Mrs. Foland was a home maker, but then after her husband died, she was the bookkeeper for Independence Light and Power for 20 years. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Independence.
Mrs. Foland is survived by 1 son, Ronald (Sandra) Foland of Iowa Falls, Iowa, 1 daughter, Jeanne Ann Dorton of Independence, Iowa, 4 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 1 great grandson.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Casket bearers were Mike Fratzke, Mike Foland, Don Smith, and Mitchell Smith. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa.
