Independence - Norma M. Faulkner, 84 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, October 2, 2006, at East Towne Care Center in Independence. She was born on December 1, 1921, in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Clara Dorothy (Seifert) Pond. She graduated from high school in Waterloo, Iowa. On October 5, 1940, she and Walter Faulkner were married in Waterloo, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 2003. Before retiring in 1986, Mrs. Faulkner was the activities director at the Buchanan County home in rural Independence. She enjoyed camping and fishing trips with her family. She also was proficient at all kinds of crafts and gardening.
Mrs. Faulkner is survived by 2 sons, James Faulkner, Sr., of Waterloo, Iowa, and Carl Scharff of Independence, Iowa, 2 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, and 1 daughter in infancy.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 5, 2006, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. Lloyd Carnicle officiating. Casket Bearers were Chad Hocken, Ric Johnson, Curt Main, John Main, Orville Kerns, and Gary Trewin. Burial was in Hudson Cemetery in Hudson, Iowa.
