JESUP – Hilma E. Davis, 75 years old of Jesup, Iowa, died peacefully at her home, Wednesday, August 23, 2006. She was born September 7, 1930, in Chickasaw County, IA, the daughter of Ole A. Anderson and Ella (Throndson) Anderson. On September 10, 1948, she married Charles Ray Davis, Jr., at the Jerico Lutheran Church, Jerico, IA. They moved to the Jesup area in 1964. Charles preceded her in death on February 10, 1983. Hilma was a homemaker and had worked at the Jesup Community School in Jesup, and the Mental Health Institute in Independence. After her retirement, she continued to volunteer at the state hospital in Independence. She was a past member at the Jerico Lutheran Church, Jerico, and at Zion Lutheran Church, rural LaPorte City, IA.
Mrs. Davis is survived by 3 sons, Charles (Cindy) Davis of Lakeville, MN, John Davis of Oelwein, IA, and Thomas Davis of Jesup, IA, also 2 grandsons, Nathan and Isaac Davis, 1 brother, Orlo Anderson of Albia, IA, and 1 sister, Carol Wightman of Henry, NB. In addition to her husband Charles, her parents, 2 brothers, Andrew and George Anderson and 1 sister, Lauraine Henning, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were at 1:00 p.m. – Saturday, August 26, 2006, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, with burial at Zion Lutheran – Jubilee Cemetery, rural LaPorte City, IA.
