JESUP – James Patrick Blunt, 55 years old of Jesup, IA, died Wednesday, October 24, 2007, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City, IA, following a short illness. Services were at 10:00 am – Saturday, October 27, 2007 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Gilbertville, IA with Fr. Steve Lundgren officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorials will be directed to establish a James P. Blunt scholarship at Don Bosco High School in Gilbertville.
Mr. Blunt is survived by his wife, Julie of Jesup, 5 daughters, Adrianne (and fiancée John Bricker) Blunt of North Liberty, IA, Jamie (Scott) Even of Jesup, IA, Kelly (Joseph) Celeste, of St. Louis, MO, Nikki Blunt and Danielle Blunt both of Cedar Rapids, IA, 1 son Patrick Blunt of Ames, IA, 5 grandchildren, Carter & Mason Even, Joseph & Reagan Celeste and Reece Bricker, also his mother, Delphine Blunt of Gilbertville, IA, 5 sisters, Sarah Riley of Cedar Rapids, IA, Margaret (Steve) Hart of Bedford, TX, LuAnne Kinsella of Oklahoma City, OK, Joan (Michael) Campisi of Gretna, NE, Patricia (Matthew) Goodwin of Des Moines, IA, 3 brothers, Richard C. (Mary) Blunt of Jesup, IA, Dennis P. (Christine) Blunt of Waterloo, IA, and John E. (Laurie) Blunt of Minneapolis, MN. His father James F. Blunt preceded him in death.
Mr. Blunt was born March 17, 1952, in Waterloo, IA the son of James Francis Blunt and Delphine Ann (Meisch) Blunt. He graduated from Don Bosco High School, Gilbertville, IA with the class of 1971. On October 4, 1975, he was united in marriage to Julie Ann Backes at Raymond, IA. He was employed by Deere & Co. in Waterloo, IA as a machinist until retiring Oct. 1, 1999. He then was a part time truck driver for Hawkeye Tile and Prinsco in Jesup, IA and also farmed. Jim enjoyed athletics and had volunteered at Don Bosco High School as an assistant girls basketball coach for several years.
