Brandon - Ruby L. Albert, 88 years old, of rural Brandon, Iowa, died at her home on Wednesday, May 31, 2006, following a long illness. She was born on March 9, 1918, in Benton County, near Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Allen and Anna (Fuehur) Baker. She attended the Benton County country schools. On June 30, 1943, she and Cecil Nicholas “Nick” Albert were married in Vinton, Iowa. They farmed in the Brandon area. He preceded her in death in 1988. Mrs. Albert worked with her husband on the farm and cared for their family. She also played piano with several musical groups. They performed at area dances for many years. Gardening was also an important part of her life. She had a fondness for growing sweet peas. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Brandon, Iowa.
Mrs. Albert is survived by 3 sons, Kenneth (Patricia) Albert of Independence, Iowa, and Ronald D. Albert and Craig (Judy) Albert, both of Brandon, Iowa, 4 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Paul Baker, and 1 sister, Grace Pelley.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 3, 2006, at the Church of Christ in Brandon, Iowa, with Pastor Craig Harris officiating. Honorary Casket Bearers were Arlene and Arlo Pelley, Jennifer Meier, Tara McEnany, and Jackie Albert. Casket Bearers were Andy Hopkins, Toby Albert, Kevin Doud, Troy Deterding, Randy Dorf, and Jordan Albert. Burial was in the Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Iowa.
