INDEPENDENCE — JoAnne Spece, 63, of Independence, died Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2008, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, following a sudden illness.
A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Oelwein. Inurnment will be in the Cremation Garden at Mount Hope Cemetery, Independence. White Funeral Home of Independence, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
She was born June 21, 1944, in West Union, Iowa, the daughter of John Edward and Edith Caroline (Paul) Snyder. She graduated from high school in Independence, in 1962. On March 20, 1964, she and Virgil Leroy Spece were married in Manchester. Mrs. Spece was a homemaker and also the bookkeeper for her husband’s business.
Survivors include her husband, Virgil; one son, Travis Spece of Bonaparte; her mother, Edith Hawkes of Independence; one sister, Geraldine (Larry) Schwake of Hendersonville, N. C.; and one brother, John (Paula) Snyder of Hayward, Calif.
