HAZLETON — Jean M. Kisner, 75, died Thursday morning, Feb. 21, 2008, at Mercy Living Plus in Oelwein, after a lengthy illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Oelwein, with Father Dale Rausch officiating. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Oelwein.
Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Sunday at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home in Oelwein, where there will be a 6 p.m. scripture service led by Carol Hamilton.
Jean M Payne was born April 16, 1932, in Winthrop, the daughter of Delbert and Leota Payne. She was raised in the Winthrop area and graduated from Winthrop High School in 1950. On June 24, 1953, she married John J. Kisner at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein. The couple made their home in Oelwein where they raised their four children. Jean was a homemaker and also worked for Montgomery Wards for many years. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Survivors include two sons, Dean (Linda) Kisner of Topeka Kan., and Mike (Dawn) Kisner of Oelwein; one daughter, Debbie Thomas of Hazleton; nine grandchildren, John Kisner, Nathan Kisner, Greg Helmuth, Lyndee Helmuth, Andrea Thomas, Contessa Thomas, Mandy Thomas, Mary Beth Kisner and Lisa Kisner; one brother, Jack Payne of Aurora; two sisters, Karen (Dick) Beebe of Melrose, and Dixie (Joe) Rubino of Oelwein; and two half-sisters, Threasa Haas of Lamont and Sandy Lange of Oelwein.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; a daughter, Karen Helmuth; a sister, Donna White; and a son-in-law, Harley Helmuth.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
