AURORA — Hilda Mae Gilson, 74, died Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008, at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters in Oelwein, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, February 15, 2008, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Interment will be in Madison Cemetery south of Aurora. Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday and after 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Hilda Mae Gilson was born Dec. 17, 1933, at Guttenberg, Iowa, the daughter of Elmer and Henrietta Priest Teed. She graduated from Manchester High School. Hilda married Clarence D. Gilson on March 26, 1953, at Nashua (he died March 11, 1975). They lived in Independence until moving to Aurora in 1972. Hilda was a nurse’s aide at the Buchanan County Home and a school bus driver.
Survivors include her four sons, Ken (Barb) Gilson of Sumner, Mike (Debbie) Gilson of Cedar Rapids, Jim (Norma) Gilson of Benson, Ill., and Ronnie Gilson of Aurora; 13 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren; two brothers, Merle (Betty) Teed of Palo and Roger (Vicky) Teed of Chandler, Okla.; one sister Marilyn (Steve) Carolan of Toddville; and two sisters-in-law, Frances Teed of Hastings, Okla., and Sandra Teed of Cedar Rapids; along with other relatives and friends.
