JESUP - Robert V. Schmitz, 72 years old of Jesup, IA, died Sunday, February 10, 2008, at his home of cancer.
Bob is survived by his wife Eva of Jesup; 4 daughters, Nancy (Bernie) Shade of Swisher, Victoria (Stephen) O’Toole of Minneapolis, MN, Jean Schmitz of Dubuque, and Marjorie (Keith) Wellman of Jesup; 4 sons, Gary (Claire) Schmitz of Stevens Point, WI, Dan (Sue) Schmitz of Des Moines, Ken (Tammy) Schmitz of Clive, and Kurt (Melissa) Schmitz of Waterloo; and 15 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers, James, John, Ralph and Leo Schmitz.
Funeral services will be 10:30 AM Thursday, February 14, 2008, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher and Msgr. Ralph P. Simington officiating.
Burial will be at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA.
Friends may call after 7:30 p.m. Tuesday and after 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Thursday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Church and School in Jesup, The Bosco School System in Gilbertville and to Cedar Valley Hospice.
