Following the church services, the remains were taken to Waterloo, former home of Mr. Wood, and interment was made in the Fairview cemetery in that city.
Mr. Wood had been in poor health for nearly a year and bedfast for about three weeks preceding his death which was due to a carcinoma.
His death came just thirteen months after that of a daughter Dorothy.
“Charles Henry Wood was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Wood. He was born at Peosta, Dubuque county, April 24, 1870. His younger days were spent there. As a boy he moved to the vicinity of Janesville with his parents, later moving to Waterloo, where he resided until nine years ago, when he came to the farm near this city.
Here he since has made his home. Mr. Wood was twice married. His first wife, who was Miss Abbie Whited died twenty-three years ago last February. To this marriage were born a daughter and a son, Mrs. Helen Freidley of Waterloo and Warren of Fayette. Mr. Wood’s second marriage to Miss Bessie Brown March 18, 1908.
To this union three daughters were born– Lila, age 15, Ruth 7, and Lorena 5, at home. Besides the sorrowing
widow and five children, two grandchildren, one brother and two sisters survive.
The Brother is Luther Wood, formerly of Colorado, and the sisters are Mrs. Perry Aldrich and Mrs. Harriet Paul both of Sioux City.
Mr Wood has won many friends during his residence here through his worth as a man, his honestly and integrity, his devotion to his home and finally, his true Christian character, and his genuinity as a friend and neighbor and citizen. He was a faithful member of the Methodist church. To the Family of this good, quiet and unassuming goes out the real sympathy of the family’s many friends.
