HAZLETON - Dorothy J. Snoble, 83, of Hazleton, died suddenly Friday morning, Jan. 11, 2008, at her home. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton with Pastor Erik Liljegren officiating. Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, and after 10 a.m. at the church Wednesday. Interment: Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton.
A memorial fund has been established in her name.
Survivors include her husband, Jerry Snoble of Hazleton; two daughters, Carol Snoble of Coupeville, Wash. and Barbara (Bill) Mirabelli of Gilmonton, N.H.; two grandchildren, Isaac Franz of Oak Harbor, Wash. and Lisa Tibbitts of New Hampshire; one great-granddaughter, Nichole Melton of Oak Harbor, Wash.; four half-sisters and one half-brother, all in Greece.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Dorothy Jean Beskos was born March 13, 1924, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of George C. and Olga (Weiss) Beskos. She graduated from South Shore High School, Chicago, in 1944. Dorothy was united in marriage to Jerry Joseph Snoble on June 15, 1946, in Chicago. She was a longtime Hazleton resident. She received her graduate certificate from Sherwood Music School in Chicago and taught piano and organ lessons for many years in Hazleton. She was the church organist at Trinity United Methodist Church in Hazleton for 18 years. Dorothy was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton and the Neighborhood Club in Hazleton.
