JESUP - Kendall A. Bishop, 90, of Jesup, died Monday Sept. 24, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, with Pastor Craig Harris officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the family or the American Cancer Society.
He was born Nov. 15, 1916, at Trego, Wis., the son of William Taylor Bishop and Maude Marie (Minard) Bishop. He graduated from East High School in Waterloo, with the class of 1934. On Nov. 15, 1941, he and the former Louise Ruth Kuehn were united in marriage in Lancaster, Mo. Mr. Bishop served in the US Army Air Corp during World War II, both in North Africa and in Europe, reaching the rank of Master Tech Sergeant.
During his adult life he owned a DX service station, a sports store and a shooting gallery all in Waterloo. He also worked as service manager at area auto dealerships. He was a member of Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup, and a life member of the NRA.
Survivors include one daughter, Victoria (Merle) Wilson of Jesup; three sons, Michael W. Bishop of Waterloo, Gerald P. (Boni) Bishop of Brandon, Wynne Thomas (Joy) Bishop of Rhodes;)10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and a special friend, Marian Cowin of Waterloo.
He is preceded in death by his wife in 1991, also his parents, one sister, Wilma Shirley Meyers, 2 grandsons, Brandon Bishop and Michael Bishop and a special friend Regina Taylor.
