INDEPENDENCE - Ronald H. Hurst, 63, of Independence, died Thursday, Oct. 25, 2007, at his home following a short illness.
Funeral service ts 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 29, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 1 until 5 p.m. Sunday at the White Funeral Home in Independence with a 1 p.m. military service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Cedar Valley Hospice, 801 First St. E., Independence, IA 50644.
He was born May 23, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of William and Bessie (Tayler) Hagerman. He attended high school in Coggon, then served with the Army in Vietnam. On Oct. 17, 2007, he and the former Becky Sue McClintock were married at their home in Independence. Before retiring in 2006, he was employed at Pickwick Manufacturing in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Becky; two daughters, Wendy (Olin) Andrews of Palo, and Lori (Eric) Augustine-Haigh of Cedar Rapids; one son Ron Hurst II of Cedar Rapids; a stepson Brent (Samantha) Hoeck of Lawton, Okla.; a stepdaughter Karrie (Brad) Rickard of Marengo; 11 grandchildren; five sisters, Connie (L.C.) Howe of Central City, Onie Galli and Beulah Powers, both of Cedar Rapids, Betty Stimpson of Anamosa, and Lenore Nelson of Sidney, Neb.; and two brothers, Mike Kellog of Phoenix and Bob Hurst of Sun City, Ariz.
