INDEPENDENCE - John T. Tielebein, 79, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Winthrop, died Tuesday, Oct. 30, 2007, at Vitas Hospice in Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., following a short illness.
Funeral service will be 1 :30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday, at the White Funeral Home of Independence.
He was born Dec. 22, 1927, in Mitchell, S. D., the son of Fred R. and Anna O. (Anderson) Tielebein. He graduated from high school in Winthrop in 1946. On Sept. 2, 1951, he and the former Helen Eva Main were married in Dubuque. They farmed for a time in Buchanan County, near Winthrop, moving to Algona in 1960. John retired from CUNA Insurance Company in 1997.
Survivors include his wife Helen; one daughter, Rebecca (Robert) Loyd of Iowa City; one son, Van (Denise) Tielebein of Coral Springs, Fla.; and seven grandchildren.
