FAIRBANK - Bettie J. Van Daele, 82, of Fairbank, died suddenly Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 24, 2007 at the Grandview Healthcare Center in Oelwein.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 27, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Fairbank, with the Rev. Harry Koelker officiating. Burial will be in the IC Cemetery, Fairbank.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, with a 5 p.m. rosary service and 7 p.m. scripture, service.
A memorial fund has been established.
Bettie Jane Fortsch was born Sept. 30, 1925 at Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter of William and Ella (Meska) Fortsch. Bettie graduated from Oelwein High Schoo1. After high school, she worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo. Bettie was united in marriage to Julius Rene Van Daele on Oct. 3, 1953 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairbank.
Bettie was a homemaker and farmed with her husband at rural Fairbank for many years. She moved to Grandview Healthcare Center where she enjoyed many outings and was a member of the Red Hat Society. Bettie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Bettie is survived by her daughter Nancy (Larry) Holub of Oelwein; her son Jerome Van Daele of Waterloo; her son-in-law Casey Rechkemmer of Oelwein; four grandchildren, Adam Holub, Shane (Jessica) Rechkemmer, Stephanie (Brian) Beesecker and Scott Rechkemmer; five great grandchildren; one sister Irene Carey of Fayette; one brother Jim (Carmel) Fortsch of Oelwein; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Julius on Nov. 30, 2003; a daughter Beth Ann Rechkemmer on Nov, 28, 4005; brothers and sisters. Loretta Vande Vorde, Idella in infancy, Luella Fowler, Mildred Bishop, Donald Fortsch, Velma Wagner, Thelma Brant and Lorna Jean Matthews.
