FAIRBANK - Dawn S. Zaruba, 48, died at home early Saturday evening, Nov. 17, 2007, after a short battle with lung cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Our Lord of the Harvest Lutheran Church in Fairbank, with the Rev. Scott Jans officiating. Burial will be in Fairbank Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. Tuesday at Woods Funeral Home, Fairbank, with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call after 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.
Dawn Suzanne was born Feb. 28, 1959, in Sioux City, Iowa. She was the daughter of Robert Arthur and Laura Irene Gallup Heilmann. She grew up in Fairbank. She married James Zaruba in September 1977, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairbank, and they were later divorced. Dawn was bookkeeper for New Dawn Trucking and had previously been employed for 23 years in the food service business with Joan and Al Hansen.
Dawn loved to cook for others and spend time visiting with family and friends.
Survivors include her, daughter Elizabeth Zaruba of Fairbank; her sons, Jeremy (Heather) Zaruba of Altoona and Brock Zaruba of Waterloo; one granddaughter, Lydia; her mother and stepfather Laura and Dwayne Ott of Fairbank; her brother, Rob Heilmann of Manchester; her lifetime partner Gary Sullivan of Hazleton; and her beloved pet Miss Kitty.
She was preceded in death by her father Robert Heilmann and her grandparents. Memorials may be directed to the family.
