INDEPENDENCE - Geraldine "Gerri" A. Locke, 73, of Independence, formerly of Waterloo, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following a short illness.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Independence. Burial will be 1:30 p.m. at Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery.
White Funeral Home of Independence and Locke Funeral Home of Waterloo are in charge of arrangements. Friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the White Funeral Home in Independence. She was born May 4, 1934, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of George Carl and Anna Elizabeth (Bevan) Rausch. She graduated from West High School in Waterloo in 1952, She then completed the x-ray technician certification program at Schoitz Hospital in Waterloo. On Nov. 26, 1954, she and Richard Harvey Locke were married in Waterloo (he died in 1985). Mrs. Locke was an x-ray technician in private clinics until 1972. After moving to Independence, she was a court advocate for the mentally ill for 20 years.
Survivors include two daughters, Kim (Dwight) Hanson of Omaha, Neb., and Karen (George) Hansen of Chicago; one son, Kevin (Mini) Locke, M.D., of Decorah; nine grandchildren; and one brother, Carl (Valerie) Rausch of Aurora, Ohio.
