Aug. 28,1926 - Nov. 2, 1950
INDEPENDENCE - Corporal Clem Robert Boody, 24, died in active duty near Unsan, North Korea on Nov. 2, 1950.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2007, at the Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, with the Rev. Dennis Bailey officiating. Burial with full military honors will be held in the Wilson Cemetery, Independence.
The public will be able to pay their respects to Cpl. Boody from 2 to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at the funeral home.
Clem was born on Aug. 28, 1926 in Otterville, Iowa the ƒson of Frederick and Dessie (King) Boody. He enlisted in the Army on Oct. 28, 1944 serving in the Philippines and the Pacific Theater during World War II. Upon his discharge on Nov. 15, 1945 he returned to the Independence area and farmed with his family. In July 1948 he reenlisted in the Army, and became MIA on Nov. 2,1950.
Clem enjoyed hunting and fishing and always passed along an easy, ready smile and a great sense of humor.
Cpl. Boody is survived by nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and six siblings Gene Boody, Mary Boody-VanNevel, Charles Boody, Frank Boody, Effie Boody, and George Boody.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cpl. Clem Boody Memorial Fund, State Bank of Toledo, P.O. Box 309, Toledo, IA 52342. Proceeds will be used to assist wounded U.S. service members.
