INDEPENDENCE - Patricia J. Wallis, 78, of Independence, died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2007, at her home following a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7, at the First United Methodist Church in Independence. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery.
Friends may call from 3 until 7 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Independence.
She was born Sept. 2, 1929, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of John Milroy and Vera Ann (Graves) Bantz. She graduated in 1947 from high school in Independence. On Sept. 5, 1948, she and Robert Franklin Wallis were married in Independence (he died in 1983). Mrs. Wallis started working as a bank teller at the Security State Bank in Independence while still in high school and continued at the bank in various positions until retiring in the early 1990's.
Survivors include one son, Greg Wallis of Jacksonville, Fla.; one daughter, Debra (Herbert Griffin) Wallis of Austin, Texas; and one grandson, Andre Griffin-Wallis.
