HAZLETON - Myron R. Lohman, 72, of Hazleton, died Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, in the emergency room at Mercy Hospital of Franciscan Sisters, Oelwein.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, at Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein, with burial in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.
Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Geilenfeld Funeral Home, Oelwein, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
Myron was born June 29, 1935 on the family farm in Buchanan County, the son of M.P. and Lydia Fratzke Lohman. He married Mildred Wright on Jan. 3, 1957, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. Myron worked construction for Huffman Brothers of Independence for 35 years. He always liked to keep busy and raised deer, elk and buffalo on his farm south of Hazleton. An outdoor person at heart. Myron enjoyed camping and trapshooting. He especially looked forward to each deer hunting season and enjoyed the annual event with the same group of hunting buddies for more than 50 years.
Survivors include his wife Mildred "Millie" of Hazleton; one son Marty (Kim) Lohman of Austin, Texas;one daughter Lahna Lohman (Chuck Wheeler) of Tulsa, Okla.; two grandsons, Levi and Dillon; a daughter-in-law Ruth Lohman of Oelwein; and a brother Gerald (Wanda) Lohman of Shoreview, Minn.
He was preceded in death by his son Dwayne Lohman, June 27, 2000; two brothers Donald and Harold Lohman; and his parents.
A memorial fund has been established in his honor.
