BRANDON - Georgia F. West, 80, formerly of Brandon, died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at West Village Care Center, Independence, following a lengthy illness.
She was born Feb. 22, 1927, in Buchanan County, Iowa, the daughter of Clarence and Florence Amelia (Jacobs) Rouse. On June 24, 1951 she was united in marriage to William LeRoy West at the Brandon Methodist Church. They farmed in the Brandon area for many years. Bill preceded her in death on Oct. 11, 2006. Georgia graduated from Brandon High School in 1944. She was an active member of the Brandon Methodist Church, the Neighborhood Social Club and had been a 4-H leader for 16 years.
Mrs. West is survived by two daughters, Glenda (Al) Westphal of Rowley, Gloria (Keith) Persson of Claremore, Okla.; one son, Gordon (Kimberly) West of Brandon; 14 grandchildren, four great grandchildren; and one sister, Elaine Brunko of Brandon.
In addition to her husband William, she is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Greg West, infant twin daughters, three brothers and one sister.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 23, at the Brandon Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Burial was in the Brandon Cemetery. The White Funeral Home, Independence, was in charge of arrangements.
