AURORA - Virginia Lee Wilson Bern, 77, died at her home in Aurora after a sudden illness on Tuesday, July 24,2007.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Fawcett Funeral Home in Winthrop. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Winthrop. Friends may call from 4 until 7:30 p.m.
Friday and after 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Virginia Lee Johnson was born Feb. 6,1930 at Wadena, Iowa the daughter of Walter and Ida McFarlane Johnson. She married Eugene Wilson on Feb. 22, 1949 at Ryan (he died Sept. 17, 1981). To this union three children were born. They farmed southwest of Aurora. Virginia married Harold Bern on May 5, 1985 at Aurora (he died Aug. 1, 2003). They lived northeast of Independence until building the home in Aurora in 1988. Virginia worked hard on the farm helping with milking, hay making, growing a big vegetable garden, and cooking meals for her family and extended family.
Survivors include her three children, Susanne (Joe) Kalishek of New Hampton, Gloria (Bob) Wilson of Hazleton, and Pat (Marcia) Wilson of Ferryville, Wis.; two stepdaughters, Janet (Dale) Buckman of Aurora and Sandra (Jim) Delay of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
