INDEPENDENCE - Linda M. Gordish - VanCleave 63, died Monday, Aug. 27, 2007, in hospice at the Buchanan County Health Center, Independence, from complications of cancer.
Funeral service is 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, in the Fawcett Funeral Home at Winthrop. Interment will be in Fontana Cemetery south of Hazleton.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time Thursday at the funeral home.
Linda Marie Gordish was born Oct. 21, 1943 at Oelwein, Iowa the daughter of John and Mary Miller Gordish. Linda graduated from Independence High School in 1961. She was married to Donald VanCleave and they later divorced. She worked at various places in the Waterloo and Independence area, but primarily at Lacey Gee in Independence where she made fishing lures.
Survivors include her three children, Brenda VanCleave of Waterloo; and James and Richard VanCleave of Independence; one granddaughter; eight siblings, Robert Gordish of Red Wing, Minn., Sylvia Brimmer of Toddville, Mary Knudson of Quasqueton, Delbert King of Walker, Morris King of Quasqueton, Crystal Gross of Gilbertville, Leslie King of Independence and Valerie Tysinger of Evansdale; other relatives and friends.
